Intro to notes.

Welcome to notes, a tiny Astro site that turns a folder of files into pages. You’re reading one right now. And you can build your own. Why?

Simple
Drop a file, get a page. No config, no database, no frontmatter.

Scalable
Nest folders as deep as your brain likes — the structure follows automatically.

Keyboardy
Arrow keys move between entries, Backspace takes you back. Mouse is optional, honestly.

Searchable
Fuzzy-find any note across the whole site, from any folder.

Free and open source
Grab your own copy on GitHub

How it works

Drop any .md .mdx .astro or .html file into src/pages/ and it’s published. Use subfolders to organize things however makes sense to you — every folder gets a navigable listing, generated on its own.

Markdown and MDX are styled out of the box. Astro pages just need a wrap in NoteLayout. HTML pages are served as-is — raw and proud.

You can also put Astro, React, Vue and Svelte components into src/components and import them in .astro and .mdx files.

That’s about it. Go get started →
